So, what am I celebrating?
Let me see...
It has been a difficult week for various reasons. It is, thank goodness, drawing to a close, which I can celebrate. It has made me realize that sometimes the things that you celebrate are things that did not happen.

I am not stuck in California where the drought is becoming dangerous.
I am not dealing with a terminally ill loved one.

Not sure why Solzhenitsyn has a litter box in front of him... |
I am not forced to consider having my 19 year old cat, BJ, euthanized. (Although, he is so hale, hearty and healthy, he may be celebrating having me euthanized one of these days since I am willing to swear that he may outlive me. ...though he did give me a scare a few months back.)
I did not give in to my baser instincts and order a pie-o-gram to be sent to various people who have, this week, made life difficult or annoying for me. No, BJ and Solzhenitsyn were not contemplated as recipients.
Houses in Picardy...
|
I am looking forward to incorporating the corrections outlined by my scribbles (see last week's post), and I had a bit of a breakthrough regarding a character arc I had been fiddling with. This involves actual honest-to-goodness writing and is always worth celebrating.
I am looking forward to the weekend and the (remote) possibility of winning the lottery, if I can remember to purchase a ticket. This will enable me to sell my house, purchase one in Picardy, and move to France, where I will be able to visit Paris (which is always a good idea) when it suits me.. One of the units on the left would be satisfactory to me. ...though there are some palaces there that might be nice but for the issue of heating.

...and now, having indulged some daydreams, I'm off to read the others.
What are you celebrating?
Hope your weekend is a big improvement, and when you win the lottery, I think I'd try to buy the green one. Give the cats some extra stroking this weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhen I win the lottery and buy that green house in Picardy (famous for its roses; good thing *someone* can grow them!) you can come visit me with your family. Have a great weekend!
DeleteHA! I may win the lottery one of these days, too, if I ever buy a ticket. (Picky, picky, picky...)
ReplyDeleteLots of things to celebrate, beginning with the fact that my hubby and I are still looking down on the green green grass of home, rather than looking up at it.
Happy weekend!
I'll remind you if you remind me. A good thing about you and DH looking DOWN at the green, green grass of home is that the rest of us can enjoy you!
DeleteI have considered sending my enemies glitter before, but I've always resisted. So far . . .
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good weekend!
Hm... A face-full of glitter... That sounds as bad as sheets full of hair shavings from an electric razor. Someone told me about that gem of a joke and I now don't allow electric razors in my house. Though, come to think of it, you'd have to save your shavings for about six months before you amassed enough to cause major annoyance. IF, that is, you also managed not to have the bag you're storing them in get punctured by little cat claws, chewed up by toddlers, or accidentally thrown out by visitors. "What is THIS? Argh! Looks like mold spores! Toss it, she'll thank us!"
DeleteYes, you're absolutely right that sometimes the only thing you can celebrate is that a crappy week has come to a close. Good for you for seeing the good side and not sending any pie-o-grams. I've never been to France, but the pic's lovely. Yay for figuring out a character arc even if it means some work. (That same thing just happened to me and will require a bit of re-writing, but I think it'll be worth it in the end!) Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteWell, as they say, you'll always have Egypt, which I swear I'll visit some day. My scheduled visit, courtesy of Thomas Cook Travel Agency (which sent steamships up the Nile to lift the siege of Khartoum) was canceled thanks to the Achille Lauro incident. I went to Hawaii instead. Some day...

ReplyDeleteConsidering the possibility of losing a person or animal you care about is just plain scary. Let's be grateful our loved ones are still around.
ReplyDeleteI ought to send the pie-o-gram to some friends as a joke.
It's amazing how prospective loss erases what was viewed as major annoyance, isn't it? I *am* sending out pie-o-grams, (with smiles) to some of my buddies today.
DeleteHope you have a good weekend! Glad to hear the kitty is doing well :)
ReplyDeleteI glittered up a cow pie one time and sent it to some one. My friend refer to it as "the glitter turd incident." It's a long story, but in a nutshell my feeling was that someone was doing something bad and trying to dress it up as something great...you know, like a turn with glitter.
ReplyDeleteFace it...I'm not profound at all.
Don't you love that, when the honest-to-goodness floodwaters break and you're writing! Marvellous
