Why You Should Not jot at 12:01 AM in Bed with an Indelible Pen...

Brainstorm for a scene.

If I don't jot it gets lost.

It's very late and I'm sleepy.

--BUT!!! I have a notebook and a pen.

Voila'!

(You should have seen my hands the next day.   'Indelible' is the c0rrect word.)

  1. HA! Maybe next time, you'd better get out of the bed...

    1. First I have to wake up. And rinse the indelible ink from my palm and frantically check to see that the (rather expensive) down blankets aren't stained. (And stop laughing at myself...)

  2. Well, at least you got down something! Great idea though. Reminds me I need to put a notebook by my bed--with a pen that works (actually, I have better luck with pencils).

    1. Pencils are altogether more benign than indelible-ink-pens. Unless, that is, you manage to jam a newly sharpened one into some portion or other of your anatomy. It leaves a mark that is as indelible as a tattoo (not that I have a tattoo, but I do have a pencil mark on my heel that will serve to ID me if I ever wind up wandering along the street with amnesia. I only hope that I run into someone who has read this response and can say 'I know that woman! She has a tattoo mark on her heel from a pencil!)

  3. That looks an awful lot like my notes from an 8 am class. They start out legible and nice, but disintegrate into squiggly lines at the end as I nodded off. Glad you got the idea down though!

    1. I remember a calculus teacher (first thing in the morning, no less!) who would wait till a student nodded off and then yell HEY!!! You do realize that your squiggly notes will be worth something in future years, don't you?

  4. Silly me. I get up and turn the computer back on...save everything in draft. Ooohhh, you should see what I end up with sometimes. Fun post! Really enjoyed this one:)

  5. Brilliant! I have my phone by my bed and have left myself memos on it. There are a lot of typos but I think I can just about get the gist of what I meant ...

    1. Now THAT's a great idea! No squiggles on a phone memo, just finger-fumbles, which are easier to figure out (sort of) though not as amusing. That's it. I'm keeping my phone by my bed! ;)
